You can certainly expand your porch later. Our porches are produced with double-walled, thick aluminum so we never screw the gutter leak. Expansion can be done in several stages. Very often we start with the two posts and the roof, and then the walls are added later.

You may also find that it becomes too warm under the veranda anyway, and later add the awning. In this way you can completely convert your veranda into a garden room. So you don't have to do that all at once, you can work toward that slowly.
